Map of the Battle of Jaji
I’m procrastinating from writing….well actually I don’t have a computer stable enough to write on at the moment. I could of course be editing the paper copy of the chapter draft but I’m just pretending it doesn’t exist .
Anyway this is a little present for those of you with an interest in studying earlier mujahideen battles. This is Abu Walid al Masri’s map of the 1987 Battle of Jaji. I will try to find a way to add in some text boxes without obscuring the map for those of you not reading Arabic. I must also thank my friend Mr S who deciphered this for me. Military squiggles aren’t my thing. And I won’t even go into my woeful sense of direction or map reading skills. Anyway, if I can get the text box thing happening I will post another copy with his translation.
But this little gem shows where the infamous Masada camp was and basically charts out where all the camps were. It shows where Sayyaf’s encampment as well as Hekmatyar’s was.
In keeping with my recent harping about how we need to be more closely studying the history of things I thought I should put my money where my mouth is and since I don’t need the maps for my thesis start putting some of it out there.
I thought some of you military types out there might get something from it. Link is here for a pdf with the best resolution I could get.
