Police are currently still conducting a search for bombs believed to have been assembled by top terrorist Dulmatin and his group before he was killed in a shootout last Tuesday.The police`s belief was based on the fact that bomb detonating remote controls were found in a safe house the militants had stayed in Pamulang, Tangerang, on Jakarta`s western outskirts, the National Police`s chief detective, Commissioner General Ito Sumardi said here Thursday.

If this pans out to be true, it will be widely and rightfully celebrated.
Indonesian police yesterday shot dead a ”big name” suspected terrorist and are seeking confirmation whether he is Dulmatin, a key figure in the Bali bombings in 2002.

According to the indictment, he sent an email to his brother detailing the plot by Noordin, the terrorist mastermind who was gunned down last year by Indonesian police.
”Cleric N needs 100 million [rupiah or $12,000]. Please pray for me,” the email, sent a year before the twin hotel blasts, said. ”It’s really crazy. It’s the biggest after WTC [World Trade Centre]. It’s a secret, OK.”
Jibril’s brother, Ahmad Isrofil Mardhotillah, was studying in the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia at the time and was subsequently visited by Jibril and Saefuddin Jaelani, the field commander of the Jakarta bombings.
The men went to do a minor pilgrimage and also sought funding for the terrorist act.
It is unclear if the men raised the money on the trip, as Jibril is not actually charged with financing the bombings. Instead, he is accused of hiding information in the lead-up to the bombing, document forgery and using a fake passport.
Prosecutors believe the funding for the Jakarta bombings came from a Saudi man, al-Khelawi Ali Abdullah, who faces court today.
Even so, prosecutors allege that the email was part of the early planning for the Jakarta hotel bombings.

Have only just skimmed reports about the new tape and not sure how new it is or if it is possible to date the tape, but content wise it smells a lot like Adam Gadahn. Surprised bin Laden would bother with this.
And what is with the Al Jazeera distribution and Sahaab?

Just a quick one
a. Entirely not surprised by this.
b. Interesting that this tape went straight to Al Jazeera instead of the forums. Sahaab is so going down the toilet. Also the time frames for this are interesting. There has definitely been a bifurcation of distribution networks in Sahaab, which corresponds to different levels of access to senior leadership.
c. Wondering if the forums had prior notice. Several of them went down this afternoon for ‘maintenance’ .
d. He’s staying totally on his own message, which is pretty much at odds with a lot of what other senior members are saying –especially viz linking it consistently back to the Palestinian issue. Again access and Sahaab could have a lot to do with this. Bin Laden is however, probably also very cognizant of popular hatred against al Qaeda’s attacks in Muslim countries. Palestine has always been the issue he uses to try to regain the initiative and recalibrate public opinion and opinion within the militant salafist milieu.
e. In terms of what he’s doing. It’s pretty damn clear that by taking credit for this (even if AQ HQ didn’t authorise -which I strongly suspect it did given doctrinal requirements for operating outside of its usual theatre of operations) he is trying to force Obama more onto the war footing. Keep the jihad going. As I have said many times.
f. Re: more attacks coming. Well that’s anyone’s guess. But if AQ HQ has anything to do with it that is what they will want and encourage. Million dollar question, is, as always, capacity to pull off more attacks. Transportation and public spaces will be the areas of focus.

Have seen this type of language before and this type of post. Of course it could just be an idle threat and even if not capacity might be an issue since several people met a missile the other day.
If I see anything that says “the rush has started” I will have kittens but until then this is just on my own little watching brief.
And will leave to others to determine veracity ….suffice to say I’ve seen the poster before and these are the things I like to keep a very close eye on–especially from people who aren’t regular posters…
